Get ready, thrill-seekers—Canada’s Wonderland is about to unleash a roller coaster that is like no other. The construction is nearly complete; the long-awaited AlpenFury launch coaster is revving up to claim its title as the longest, tallest, and fastest launch coaster in Canada, and the ride with the most inversions on the continent.
After months of anticipation and a year of construction, the park reached a major milestone this week: the final piece of track has been installed. Wonderland spokesperson Grace Peacock confirmed that the last segment was placed late Tuesday night, calling it a ‘huge step forward’ in bringing the park’s most ambitious coaster to life.
While online rumors had suggested construction hurdles, including talk of misalignment and track disassembly, Peacock clarified that any adjustments made were standard, “Adjustments to columns is normal during the installation process.”
What makes AlpenFury stand out? For starters, it launches from inside Wonder Mountain, the park’s most iconic landmark. From there, riders will be sent screaming through a kilometer-long track with nine inversions and speeds hitting 115 km/h. It’s not just any other thrill ride you have had, it’s a record-setter in every sense.

Though the track is now complete, there’s still work to be done. “Things look finished, we still have a lot of work involving testing and commissioning the ride,” Peacock explained.
Over the coming weeks, the AlpenFury trains will be cycled hundreds of times, followed by a final safety inspection by the Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA). Then only will the ride be cleared to open.
The Wonderland has given no official opening date, but with spring quickly coming to a close, the countdown is definitely on. Peacock hinted that riders won’t have to wait much longer, “Guests should see the first AlpenFury train moving on that track shortly, which will be very exciting.”
As the finish line approaches, Canada’s Wonderland is releasing new construction updates to keep fans hyped, and with good reason. AlpenFury isn’t just another attraction, it is set to redefine Canadian coaster culture and attract thrill-seekers from across North America.
So buckle up Canada! AlpenFury is almost ready to roar. And when it does, it won’t just be breaking records, it’ll be breaking expectations.
